For many ski and snowboard enthusiasts, becoming a ski instructor is a logical next step in their lives, as it allows them to make a living from their passion for snow sports for a good part of the year.

What's more, this profession is often a family affair, as it's not uncommon to come across the mother, brother or cousin of an esf member at the same ski resort.

So becoming an instructor seems like a natural progression for a lot of people who are used to the mountains! So what about you?

What is the esf Academy?

Before you can become a ski or snowboard instructor in Courchevel 1850, you first have to complete a demanding course at the esf Academy.

This course allows you to learn about the profession from experienced professionals, and also to prepare for the state diploma tests, which are awarded on successful completion.

Several esf coaches work with Courchevel and are now ready to share their passion for coaching with you. By joining the esf Academy, you will have access to tailor-made tuition and high-quality teaching content, including slalom, technical skiing and much more. Thanks to this training school, your dream is within reach.

Conditions and steps: how do I join the esf Academy?

To be able to join the esf Academy in Courchevel, you first need to know if you are eligible for its programme. There are currently several conditions governing access to this course.

These include knowing how to ski, being at least 16 years old, having achieved the Flèche d'Or or Chamois de Vermeil level, and much more. All the conditions can be found on the esf Academy de la Vallée de Courchevel website.

If you are interested in this course, you should take the time to contact the training centre online or by telephone. The people in charge of enrolments will then explain how to go about submitting your application.

Les Pulls Rouges: a big family of enthusiasts!

esf Academy training weeks start on the 12th January and can run until the 29th March, although these dates may change from year to year. They take the form of 9.30am - noon and 2pm - 4.30pm sessions and generally last 6 days.

During the course, you'll have access to video analysis, training on the slalom course and, of course, personalised advice. All this will help you to improve quickly, while giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the job of esf instructor.

If you manage to get your state diploma after your skiing or snowboarding tests, you'll then have the chance to join the Pulls Rouges: a family of enthusiasts where mutual help is king. So, are you tempted by this adventure?
