Originally from Doucy, Gary and Sevan Collombet have joined esf Courchevel 1850 for the 2023-2024 season. The two brothers, who grew up together and followed similar paths, are now making a living from their passion in one of Savoie's most emblematic resorts.
As ski and snowboard instructors, they have other jobs when the season is over, but they are never far from the slopes. Get to know Gary and Sevan now!
Skiing, a family passion
Born in the Tarentaise valley, the Collombet brothers put on their first skis at a very young age, taught by their parents, who were passionate about winter sports. At the age of 6, they joined the Valmorel Ski Club, which would become their favourite resort for many years.
After taking part in numerous competitions until their late teens, the two brothers began their professional careers. In addition to his diploma as a ski instructor, Sevan studied at the Lycée de la Montagne for a vocational qualification in plumbing and heating, and then in Albertville for a vocational qualification in refrigeration.

From 2006, he worked as a refrigeration technician and ski instructor at the Valmorel Ski Club.
After the ski club, Gary took a 4-year Bac S course and joined the alpine skiing section of the high school in Moûtiers. Every year the winter term is dedicated to skiing at Les Menuires. Gary obtained his high-school diploma in 2010, followed by a technology degree in civil engineering and a bachelor's degree in Grenoble.
In 2013, he completed his first season as a monitor while working as a site manager in public works.

A duo arrives at esf Courchevel 1850
After many happy years in Valmorel, Gary and Sevan felt the need for a change and decided to try their luck at Courchevel 1850. Their assessment of their first season is that "the welcome was first class, almost like coming home".
They appreciate the quality of the lessons given by the ski school, the variety of customer profiles and the richness of the encounters they have had.
The sharing of their passion, the openness to the world and the vastness of the ski area, which offers new discoveries every day, give Gary and Sevan the feeling that every week is different. They work in their element, the mountains, and wouldn't change their route for the world!

A typical day for two instructors in Courchevel
After a combination of carpooling and cable car, Gary and Sevan arrive at the ESF, kit up and meet their clients outside their hotel at 9.30am.
They take stock of their students' expectations and goals for the day, then head to the slopes to start the skiing or snowboarding session. After a mountain-flavoured lunch, the lessons continue for the rest of the afternoon before returning to the client's accommodation at around 4.30pm.
Their favourite places to ride? Moriond for Sevan, La Combe de la Saulire for Gary. Maybe they'll even let you discover them on a ski or snowboard lesson!
