With a team of 500 instructors, Courchevel 1850 brings together a wide range of profiles so that each client can be accompanied by a professional who matches their personality.

Ramon Birkner joined the resort in 2010, but he started loving to ski much earlier! Athlete, traveller, teacher and coach: Ramon has many facets to his inspiring and fascinating career.

A passion for skiing born in Patagonia

Ramon was born in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, in the north of Patagonia. The city is famous for its majestic landscapes of lakes and mountains, so it was natural that he started learning to ski with his parents at the age of 2.

Although the sport was not as developed in the region as it is today, Ramon soon began competing in clubs and qualified for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville at the age of 18. A knee injury prevented him from competing, but he was introduced to French ski resorts and Courchevel in particular.

After a stay in the United States, where he managed a resort near Las Vegas, he was called back to Courchevel to train athletes of all levels - from the youngest, aged 8 to 14, to the most experienced, aiming for major competitions such as the European Cup.

The 3 Vallées, a land of a thousand possibilities

After three seasons as a coach (2004-2006) and another stint in America, Ramon returned to Courchevel in 2010 to become an esf instructor.

Although he has had the opportunity to visit many resorts around the world (Austria, Germany, Italy, USA, Canada, Chile and of course Argentina), he insists that the 3 Vallées is his favourite.

The weather conditions, the quality of the snow and the variety of activities on offer make it the ideal place to teach skiing and pass on his passion. Ramon also praises the French mentality and freedom, but above all? The food!

An instructor at your service at esf Courchevel

The size of the resort and the large number of pistes available make it possible to diversify your skiing routes, to go from one place to another and to vary your enjoyment. It's the perfect playground for Ramon's lessons at esf Courchevel 1850.

What makes his job so rewarding? Having a variety of approaches, thanks to the different nationalities that visit the resort. His lessons are for all ages and all levels.

At the end of the season, Ramon travels to South America to give courses in Ushuaia, San Martin de Los Andes, San Carlos de Bariloche and Chile - an activity on two continents that he has been pursuing with unbroken enthusiasm for 35 years!
