Damaged in 2021 following a regulatory accident, the legendary Saulire cable car in Courchevel will be given a new lease of life starting in December 2024.
With its 1,713 metres of cable, the cable cars provided access to the highest point in the resort and an essential link to the ski area of the valley of Courchevel. So, after 3 closed seasons, many skiers were eagerly awaiting the reopening of this essential 3 Vallées lift.
Saulire cable car: Courchevel's landmark back in service
The technical incident that occurred in 2021 following an inspection that damaged the infrastructure of the Saulire cable car left a lasting impression.
In operation since 1952 and upgraded to become the world's largest cable car in 1984, this cable car has become an emblem of the Courchevel resort. With a vertical drop of 622 metres, its gondolas completed a major journey to an altitude of 2,712 metres, the highest point in the resort.
After three years waiting for its return, the Saulire cable car is opening a new chapter in its history. After a long period of modernisation, particularly in terms of safety, it promises to provide a new experience for all the adults and children who come to enjoy the ski area, while retaining its original spirit. A project to match Courchevel's image!

Two unique panoramic gondolas
While the project to rebuild the Saulire cable car left some aspects of the old system unchanged, such as the station infrastructure and the pylons, others, such as the steering, motorisation and braking systems, were replaced. However, the most important renovation remains the refurbishment of the two damaged cabins.
Adapted to the needs of holidaymakers, whatever the season, the two new cabins are now modular. They can be switched from winter to summer mode.
The bars for skiers to deposit their skis will be replaced by large benches, giving summer tourists the chance to contemplate the surrounding view in the best possible conditions, thanks to the large glass windows extending almost to the floor.
It's a memorable experience, allowing everyone to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the vast Courchevel ski area!

Launch scheduled for the opening of the 2024-2025 season
After an impressive three-year project, the emblematic Saulire cable car will be back in service for the opening of the new Courchevel season on 6 December 2024.
All the skiers who have been waiting with bated breath to be able to reach the highest point in the resort will enjoy riding the new equipment.
An important link to the rest of the 3 Vallées area, and in particular to Méribel, this cable car will enable winter sports fans to easily reach the 600 km of pistes that constitute the seven surrounding resorts.
