As several events in the Alpine World Ski Championships were held in Courchevel this year, one of the resort's esf instructors followed this new competition with the utmost attention: Marion Rolland, World Downhill Champion in 2013.

Skiing is a family affair for Marion Rolland
A native of Les 2 Alpes, Marion Rolland was born with skis on her feet.
From the age of one and a half, her parents passed on their passion for winter sports, giving her her first glides on the snow. With her mother as an esf instructor and her father as a ski patroller, young Marion never stayed far from the slopes, joining the resort's Ski Club at the age of 7.
The sensations, the speed, but also the mountains and the constant challenge of the changing conditions of this environment, are all reasons that have stimulated her over the years. Driven by her passion and competitive spirit, she joined the French ski team at the age of 18.

A versatile skier, Marion Rolland focused on speed disciplines during her athletic career. This marked the start of 17 years of competition in the French team, punctuated by injuries, but also and above all by numerous podiums and titles in her preferred disciplines, including :
An impressive national list of achievements, including selection for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, and a new consecration in 2013 with the title of World Downhill Champion in Schladming, Austria.
It was a triumph for Marion Rolland and for the France, which had not enjoyed such a victory in this speed discipline since Marielle Goitschel's title 47 years earlier.
