‘Nobody skis lightly enough not to leave tracks’
Anne Lafarge has been teaching many specialities for more than 30 years.
Originally from Chamonix, Anne Lafarge speaks French and English. She is working within ESF Courchevel, where she is specialised in teaching children, pedagogy, off-piste and cross-country skiing. Driven by the passion she has been keeping since she is three- and transmitted by her father, himself working as a ski instructor in Courchevel- she has been passing on her knowledge since 1982.
What Anne mostly likes are not only the pedagogical and relational aspects of her occupation, but also the mountains and introducing her customers to the beauty of Courchevel and of Les Trois Vallées. In order to pass on her knowledge, she focuses on a good listening and tries to adapt at best to their needs, while making them discover the beauty of the place.
As for children, she especially tries to give them the opportunity to discover the pleasures of snow by combining games with sliding. When teaching, Anne especially tries to understand the difficulties met by her customers in order to establish solutions that will help them improve. But above all, she wants to communicate her pleasure for this sport. She likes reminding the best moments she spent with her customers, such as during strolls in nature, when they manage to overcome their difficulties. She especially reminds the special case of a young learner she helped thanks to the right exercises and to long discussions, although he felt scared on skis.
Anne started skiing in Courchevel when she was a child; she then participated in competitions at 8 and at 17. It is today a real pleasure for her to share her passion in this wonderful resort, and especially within the ESF, which for her embodies professionalism, safety and the pleasure of teaching. La Combe des Pylônes and Les Murettes are his favourite slopes in Courchevel, while the slopes of Courchevel 1650 and the ski areas of Praz and La Tania are his favourite spots.
Anna likes off-piste skiing, powder snow, walking in nature and this ‘mountain’ setting combined with the quiet beauty of the landscape. She also likes the atmosphere conveyed by snow sports: for this instructor, there is nothing better than coming back home after an effort and enjoying a good hot chocolate! Her travels enabled her to see the practice of skiing and its teaching differently, especially in Switzerland, in Italy and in Austria.
Concurrently, this instructor also works as a photographer and as artistic installations designer. She also likes sporting activities, such as hiking, sailing, or else swimming and more artistic activities, such as theatre, cinema, exhibitions, pottery and reading.
