‘Passing on my passion. Naturally!’
Originally from Gap (Southern Alps), Isabelle is a former high-performance athlete in cross-country skiing who became an instructor out of passion.
Isabelle has been developing on skis since she is three. Encouraged by her father (who works as a policeman in the PGHM of Briançon), she soon showed a distinct ability for this sport as well as a strong attraction for cross-country skiing. Since the age of 12, this future champion started practicing this discipline in a competitive level. It was the beginning of her career as a high-performance athlete, which led her to join the French National Team (French Ski Federation/ University French Team) in the Rossignol team, specialised in long distance. However, Isabelle did not stop there; since then, she won several awards in Alpine skiing competitions at a national level.
This ski instructor possesses a solid university education, since she obtained several degrees, including a BA in STAPS at the University of Grenoble. It is for not having to leave the region she has a fondness for that Isabelle chose to work in the Ecole du Ski Français (ESF) of Chamrousse before joining that of Courchevel 1850. It was the beginning of a wonderful adventure for this instructor, who loves mountains and could not spend a winter elsewhere than on ski runs.
Isabelle has been a ski instructor for 30 years now. She has been teaching with the same pleasure cross-country skiing, ski touring, off-piste skiing, Alpine skiing and snowboarding. As a real polyglot, she speaks English and Russian with as much facility as French. Over the past few months, she has been learning Portuguese and Brazilian.
Isabelle had the opportunity to ski in Switzerland and to roam several European cross-country ski trails during her years of competition. She also did the Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ) in cross-country skiing at the age of 16. It was an exceptional experience during which she reached Switzerland within a week, her rucksack on, sleeping in makeshift shelters.
The life’s chances led her to Courchevel 1850, a ski resort she immediately loved and where she resides in winter. During the rest of the year, Isabelle lives in Grenoble, a city close to nature which enables her to remain in contact with mountains and fresh air while practicing diverse sports, such as mountain biking, hiking, but also yoga. Isabelle also works as a sailing instructor on Laffrey Lake. When she does not dedicate her free time to teaching, she enjoys gardening, renovation and interior decoration.
