‘Courchevel? A timeless ski resort!’
Thierry Sauvanet comes from Chamalières, in Auvergne Puy-de-Dôme. Specialised in the teaching of downhill skiing and in ski jumping since 1980, his leitmotif as a ski instructor is, above all, taking pleasure.
Thierry arrived in Courchevel 1850 in the 1960s with his parents, and rapidly developed a strong link with this discipline. Thierry, who discovered skiing at the age of 6, immediately loved this winter sport that Bernard Lazzaroni, a ESF instructor, taught him. Not only was this instructor able to pass on his passion for skiing, but also for teaching.
As most inhabitants of the resort, this instructor joined Courchevel Sports Club. He then practiced competitive skiing when he integrated the French Nordic Ski-jump Team, with which he was rewarded by 3 titles of French Champion (minimal categories, youth and juniors). In 1981, Thierry also became the record holder of ski jump in Saint-Nizier 110 meters.
This instructor is particularly committed to communicate his passion to learners while taking pleasure ; yet he never sets aside the rigour he was being taught in the Ecole du Ski Français (ESF).
Thierry, who has already skied in Canada, Italy, and Switzerland, recalls above all the slopes of Les 3 Vallées, which are exceptional for him! Especially Les Lanches ski run, which he is particularly fond of and the ski run Les Chapelets in Courchevel 1650.
Apart from teaching, Thierry owns the restaurant La Chapelle 1550. For this company head, who enjoys managing a team, it is also gratifying to observe the progress of his learners on the slopes! When not on skis or running his restaurant, Thierry practices cycling and mountain biking with the same pleasure.
